It's our pleasure to write this letter of reference for Hibernian Development Builders! Before we found our Hibernian single family home in February 2005, we had probably looked at close to 40 other new-construction homes in Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Lincoln Square, Roscoe Village and Bucktown. We were quite discouraged as there was always something that wasn't quite right—bad layouts, poor quality, no craftsmanship. Then we found our dream home! Five minutes after walking in the door for the first time, we knew we were home. It was the perfect layout for us - logical and well thought out. The craftsmanship and finishes were unlike anything we had seen in homes costing the same or more money. The thing that took us by surprise was the service we received after closing. Every item on the punch list was completed in a timely manner, every promise was kept. Now, even a year later, Hibernian Development will still take care of the minor issues that always arise with new homes. That\'s so refreshing in this day and age! We consider Niall and Peter to be friends and part of our growing family. If we ever build another home, there\\\'s only one call we'll make - Hibernian! |
We first saw Hibernian's work while wandering through an open house for a single family home they had built in a nearby neighborhood. We had been looking for a house for almost two years and were disappointed by the new construction we had seen. So much of it was quickly and shoddily built – with high end stainless steel appliances to distract you from the poor construction and design of the homes. Then we saw the Hibernian home. Beautiful millwork and finishes. Solid wood doors. Floor plans that showed someone really thought through the use of each room and the flow of the house. We were impressed. But, we were on a budget and the two homes they were completing were a bit out of our range. So when we saw their sign on an empty lot we jumped at the chance to meet with them and see if together we could build the house that was right for our family and right for our budget. When we met with the Hibernian people to talk about the lot, we assumed we'd meet the broker and a company rep. Instead, we met with the principals of the company, Niall Brophy & Peter Dinneen. These are also the people who personally run the building of each home. Again, we were impressed. Many of the other builders we had met with were just "moneymen", with no experience actually constructing a home – they were in it to build, profit and move on. Niall Brophy and Peter Dinneen were different. They both have years of experience actually doing the planning, the hiring and overseeing of the subcontractors, the labor – the real business of home construction. Another pleasant surprise was their suggestion that we walk through some of their previous homes and talk to the buyers of those homes to see what they had to say about their homes and their experience with Hibernian. Talk about full disclosure! We've now been in our home over a year and remained thrilled with it. The construction went according to schedule and completely within the agreed budget. Niall & Peter conferred with us at every stage to insure we were getting exactly what we wanted. They made educated suggestions along the way and steered us away from some common mistakes in new construction. The result is a home that perfectly suits our family and is of such high quality that people ask us for our builders' name all the time. My favorite story is the day our new next door neighbor stopped me at our mailbox and told me what a great job Niall and Peter did. He recounted for me the stormy spring night during construction when, at 3 o'clock in the morning, he saw Niall walking the foundation of our house in the pouring rain just to see how everything looked. These are people who are not focused on the sale, they are focused on the craft of building. If you are interested in honest, experienced builders who take great pride in their work, and who listen, then Hibernian is for you. |
We were as skeptical as any home buyers in getting involved with new construction. Hibernian Development far exceeded our expectations. Every stage of the construction was on time despite our indecision's and there were no hidden costs. The home inspection came in with A+ for workmanship and no cut corners. The few follow up items we had were taken care of promptly and without issue. Hibernian Development set a new standard in home construction. I would recommend them to anyone. |
